Objectives and Contents
Objectives of the Course Unit Course Description: The Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, with their unique characteristics in the Eurasian region, have been closely monitored not only in that vast geographical area but also by states in other parts of the world. This situation, which remains a hot topic in international relations today, is expected to continue and even intensify in the coming years. Russia and China, two of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, define their current and future relations as "UNLIMITED COOPERATION," despite their differences on various regional issues. Based on the above framework, this course will examine the in-depth foreign, security, and economic relations between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, as well as the foreign and security policies these two great states and civilizations have pursued/could pursue towards the world beyond their borders, from a historical perspective. The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of Russia and China's international policies from a historical perspective, in light of current and potential developments, as well as to introduce them to recent academic studies published on these countries. Course Objectives: 1. To introduce students to the main components of Russia's and China's foreign and security policies from the past to the present. 2. To understand which foreign and national security issues Russia and China have prioritized from the past to the present, and which tools they have used in implementing these policies. 3. To analyze how Russia and China conduct their international relations in current conditions, and whether they prefer confrontational or cooperative policies, within the scope of selected case studies. 4. To analyze which measures have been developed or can be developed regarding energy security, which is extremely critical for both countries in terms of supply security-demand security. 5. To understand the current strategies of Russia and China in the context of defense industries and military systems, which are vital for protecting and developing their national and global interests.

ETIS : İstanbul Aydin University Education & Training System Cyprus Aydin University ECTS Information Package ECTS Information Package European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) which was introduced by the European Council in 1989, within the framework of Erasmus, now part of the Life Long Learning Programme, is a student-centered credit system based on the student workload required to achieve the objectives of a programme specified in terms of learning outcomes and competences to be acquired. The implementation of ECTS has, since its introduction, has been found wide acceptance in the higher education systems across the European Countries and become a credit system and an indispensable tool supporting major aims of the Bologna Process and, thus, of European Higher Education Area as it makes teaching and learning in higher education more transparent across Europe and facilitates the recognition of all studies. The system allows for the transfer of learning experiences between different institutions, greater student mobility and more flexible routes to gain degrees. It also offers a systematic approach to curriculum design as well as quality assessment and improvement and, thus, quality assurance.
